The Ministry of Health (MOH) in its daily update on Wednesday (25 Aug) has reported two more cases of death from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
The two are a partially vaccinated 86-year-old man and an unvaccinated 95-year-old woman.
The man, who died on Tuesday (24 Aug), were tested positive for Covid-19 infection on 28 July.
He was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for an unrelated medical condition on 1 July and tested negative for the coronavirus multiple times.
MOH said he had a history of cancer, high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, heart disease, and hyperlipidaemia or high levels of cholesterol.
The woman, who died on Wednesday (25 Aug), developed symptoms on 5 Aug and tested positive for the virus on 9 Aug after being admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. MOH shared that she had a history of Alzheimer’s Disease.
In total, Singapore’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 52.
In August alone, 15 individuals have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection so far.
The previous cases were:

- 2 Aug: A 58-year-old Singaporean woman
- 4 Aug: A 79-year-old Singaporean man
- 5 Aug: A 63-year-old Singaporean man
- 7 Aug: A 80-year-old Singaporean woman
- 11 Aug: A 69-year-old Singaporean man
- 13 Aug: A 84-year-old Singaporean man
- 16 Aug: A 64-year-old Singaporean man
- 17 Aug: A 90-year-old Singaporean man
- 19 Aug: A 82-year-old Singaporean man
- 21 Aug: A 91-year-old Permanent Resident woman
- 22 Aug: A 87-year-old Singaporean man
- 23 Aug: A 86-year-old Singaporean woman
MOH earlier announced 118 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of which 26 are linked to North Coast Lodge.
Of the remaining 92 cases, 19 are linked to previous cases and have already been placed on quarantine. 44 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 29 are currently unlinked.
“Amongst the cases are two seniors above 70 years who are unvaccinated/ partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness,” said MOH.
In addition, there are two new imported cases, who have been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. One was detected upon arrival in Singapore, while the other developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
The total number of infection cases in Singapore stands at 66,812.
