The Ministry of Health (MOH) has published a Facebook (FB) post on Saturday evening (14 Aug) to refute a claim made by a Facebook user who claimed in a post that a three year old preschooler had died from a COVID-19 infection at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH).
The post which had garnered 200 over shares before it was removed from public view on Saturday, had also claimed that this death was not reported in the news and that the Singapore government “has always not been transparent” to Singaporeans.
The FB user also suggested to parents to keep their children at home if they do not feel safe in letting their children go to school.
MOH wrote that the claims made by this FB user is “completely untrue and a total fabrication”.
It went on to state that there has been no child who had died from COVID-19 at KKH thus far and urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and misinformation.
The image used by the FB user to depict the three-year-old is in fact a seven year old girl, Elizabeth Regina Khoe Tian Shi who passed away at KKH due to a viral infection.
