38 new cases of COVID-19 infection in S’pore; 4 out of 34 community cases unlinked
As of Wednesday noon (19 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 38 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total number of infection cases to 61,689.
There are 34 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of whom 30 are linked to previous cases, and four are currently unlinked.
“Amongst them, 28 had already been placed on quarantine earlier,” said MOH.
“Based on our investigations so far, the cases are in the community, and there are no new cases in the dormitories.”
In addition, there are four new imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore. Of these, three are returning Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs).
The Ministry will share further updates in its press release tonight.
According to last night’s press release, there are currently 220 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and five are in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).
266 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
31 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
