Through an online drawing contest, citizens of the internet were humoured when they found out who the winner was.

When placed side by side, the winning drawing is a simple doodle and the drawing that won second displayed serious talent, showing a huge contrast between the two.

The contest was based on the number of likes gained on social media, therefore it was self-explanatory that the simple doodle was favoured by the majority.

It was typically believed that one should produce meticulously drawn art to be considered as “good”, but oftentimes simplicity is what that wins people’s hearts.

The artist of the winning piece, Jay Cartner, revealed that they had been creating complex art for years, however, their complex art was not appreciated as much as their doodles.

The dog in the doodle is one of Cartner’s greyhounds, and they expressed that greyhounds make “perfect models”, according to Bored Panda.

“My husband, Grady, and I have three retired racing greyhounds – Stanley, Stuart, and Kitty. I’ve been making art since my first art class at five years old.

No one has ever really been interested in my serious stuff, but my funny doodles seem to make people smile! I’ve been drawing for years, and greyhounds make perfect models.”

Cartner mentioned that they entered the drawing contest after the drawings of their greyhounds made family and friends smile.

Apart from submitting this doodle to the contest, Cartner actually had set up a Facebook page called Flat Dog Doodles to share their doodles with the rest of the internet. Apparently, they also accept commissions for other animals like cats, horses, mice, lizards, or even human kids.
