By Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers at Changi Airfreight Centre thwarted an attempt to smuggle about 42.5kg worth of sexual enhancement medicines into Singapore on Tuesday (8 Sep).
In a Facebook post on Friday (11 Sep), the ICA stated that the items were concealed in packages declared as “clothes and toys”, adding that its officers had noticed anomalies in the x-ray images of the packages during the course of their checks.
The case was then referred to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for further investigation.
The authority noted that this method of concealment is a cause for concern as similar methods may be used by people with ill intent to smuggle security items into Singapore, adding that it will continue to conduct security checks on passengers, goods, and vehicles so as to safeguard Singapore’s security.
