尚达曼：若本地结构性失业率偏高 或考虑提供失业救济
国务资政兼社会政策统筹部长尚达曼指出，尽管目前本地失业率仍处于低水平，不过若本地也陷入结构性失业率偏高的现象，救可能得考虑提供失业救济。
尚达曼是在李光耀公共政策学院举办的网上讨论会上，这么表示。他强调我国推出一系列计划，包括为员工进行再培训，让他们尽快重返工作岗位。
截至今年3月，我国居民失业率为3.3巴仙，整体失业率2.4巴仙。
无独有偶，在本届选举竞选宣言，工人党和民主党都有提到，为被裁员工提供援助，工人党倡议冗员保险（Redundancy Insurance），作为现有再培训和再就业配套的补充，为不幸被裁员工铺设社会安全网。
民主党倡议的“重新启动RESTART”援助和重新雇佣计划，建议被裁国人能够持续18个月获得原薪金的一半援助金，即即首半年提供原先工资的75巴仙，第二半年提供一半的工资，以及最后的半年提供原工资的四分一。
