The Ministry of Health has announced that it has verified and confirmed 728 new cases of COVID-19 infection as of Thursday (16 April), 12pm.
This brings the total number of infected cases in Singapore to 4,427.
The new cases consist of 48 community cases, 26 cases of Work-Permit holders staying out of dormitories and 654 cases of Worker-Permit holders who are residing in dormitories.
There is no imported case.
Five new clusters have been identified. They are:
- The Leo dormitory (23 Kaki Bukit Road 3)
- SJ Dormitory (180 Woodlands Industrial Park E5)
- Westlite Mandai (34 Mandai Estate)
- 17 Sungei Kadut Street 4
- Grandwork Building (7 Sungei Kadut Street 3)
Update on confirmed cases
31 more patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing the total of recovered cases to 683.
On Wednesday, most of the 1,496 hospitalised cases are stable or improving.
26 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 1,540 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Ten have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
The good news today is that Case 42, the Bangladeshi workers who spent more than two months in intensive care after testing positive for COVID-19 in February, and had to be put on a ventilator, has been taken off the ventilator and transferred out of intensive care to recover in the general ward.
