A video had been circulating social media after it was uploaded yesterday (13 April) by a Facebook user, Patrick Tan. In the video, a middle-aged man was seen held down by two police personnel at a Guardian outlet.
He could be heard yelling “Eh, relax lah!” as he was pinned to the ground. Two other police officers came into the scene to support the arrest, and the man was finally cuffed.
The 48-year-old man was obviously resisting the arrest and he made a fuss by kicking the shelves before he was taken away by force. Items on the rack scattered on the ground and it startled the other witnesses who were in the store.
In Mr Tan’s post, he was unamused at how the man was resisting the police and wished how the man under arrest would just follow the police instead of causing a commotion in the store.
Apparently, this incident occurred yesterday at a Guardian pharmacy at Toa Payoh. The female voice that could be heard in the video mentioned that the man did not comply with the instructions.
Netizens had suspected that the arrest was due to the fact that the man was not wearing a face mask. It was then revealed by the police that the suspect was arrested due to disorderly behaviour and suspected shop theft, and that they had received a report to assist on the scene at Block 190 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh at 2:20 pm.
