王瑞杰告诉外媒:淡马锡和政府投资公司 没任人唯亲问题

在上周五(本月17日),副总理兼财政部长王瑞杰接受瑞士媒体《新苏黎世报》(Neue Zürcher Zeitung)专访,被问及尽管新加坡有选举制度,但仍一党专政的问题。

《新苏黎世报》问道,“难道现在还不是开放更多民主与政治竞争的成熟时机吗?”

对此王瑞杰则辩护,新加坡拥有自由公平的选举制度,许多政党都有角逐上届选举,其中行动党有五名国会议员席位失守。

“这算是民主吗?我觉得是。而我们也确实尊重这个结果。事实上,我们执政党多年来赢得选举,与压迫无关,而是因为我们谨遵承诺,也赢得新加坡公民的信任。”

《新苏黎世报》接著追问,王瑞杰是否认为新加坡更适合一党专政,而且该如何避免因一党专政,而带来任人唯亲的问题。

王瑞杰则强调,果断的治理和领导能力至关重要。

“就好比我们国家,拥有自己的主权财富基金淡马锡控股和新加坡政府投资公司(GIC),作为财政部长我不曾干预过他们的投资决策。这是因为如果我干预,将没办法确保他们对自身的表现负责。”王瑞杰说。

他续指,“在宪法下,身为财政部长,我必须向国会负责;而我则必须要求主权基金的领导者负责。我们有严格的规章对付裙带关系,以及强硬打击贪腐的律法。”

王瑞杰:新加坡需建立和谐团结氛围

当被问及目前新加坡面临的何种挑战时,他则回答,最大的挑战是建立于维持“和谐与团结”的氛围,尤其现在全世界面临巨大与快速的改变。

他称,人民行动党在过去50年来都实施“具有建设性的政策”。

“我们需要一直持续下去(目前的政策)吗?我们会在面临重要问题上,是否仍能有共识,一起解决问题吗?我们是否准备好做一项虽然在短期无法看到效果,但在未来确实必要的决定?这一切取决于施政,如果我们能够带领大家,团结一致,我们必然会强大。

换句话说,当新加坡人在面对行动党造成民困的政策,例如引进外籍人才、执意调高消费税等政策,是否还会给行动党政府支持?

当然,王瑞杰是这么告诉外国记者的:无论如何他都希望新加坡人民能继续支持该党和他和行动党站在一起,因为“人民团结”才能“保持壮大”。

不过在上述访谈结束时,王瑞杰也坦言若他与执政党并未履行职责,新加坡公民很清楚必须作出改变,到那时人民行动党也会随之被更多竞争者取代。这也会推动新加坡的进步。他说道。
