The 2019 edition of the JSSL Professional Academy 7s – Asia’s largest youth tournament – is all set to take place this weekend from 19 to 21 April at Our Tampines Hub (OTH).

In the tournament, youth teams from renowned clubs like FC Barcelona, Liverpool, Fulham, Valencia CF, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal will be gracing the event, along with Southeast Asian clubs like five-time Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim, Indonesian super-talent Persib Bandung and Bangkok United, an upcoming force in Thai League 1.

For fans of the Asian football scene, they will get a chance to also see Johor Darul Takzim and Persib Bandung battle out on 20 April at the OTH

Apart from the boys’ teams, this will the first time that JSSL 7s will feature young girls from among the top academies in the world. Some of the teams participating in the girls’ tournament include FC Barcelona, Valencia CF, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

Former Manchester United and England defender Paul Parker, a JSSL ambassador said, “There will be more than 5000 players and officials from 17 nations around the world including teams from Sweden and Germany coming down for the event. With so many teams and players down, and from so many exiting teams, we are all set for a youth football extravaganza like no other”.

Since its inauguration in 2013, JSSL, which is a Singapore-based tournament has rapidly grown in size, and this year, it will feature 400 teams taking part in 15 age-categories for both boys and girls.
