SMRT: Air-con refrigerant leak caused emission of white smoke from train at Buona Vista Station

Passengers were forced to disembark from an MRT train at the Buona Vista Station when white smoke started to appear within the cabin at around 7.45am on March. around 7.45am on 20 March (Wednesday).

SMRT posted on Facebook later that night stating that the MRT train was heading along the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris when the incident happened and that it was “immediately withdrawn for further checks”.

The cause of the white smoke was determined by the public transport operator to be from an air-conditioner refrigerant leak.
