by BankBazaar.sg

School vacations are here and it is time to decide which theme park you cross off your kid’s bucket list this year. Asia is teeming with options. One fun park after another in country after country, with some countries boasting multiple world-class complexes. With the region as your playground, here are some theme parks you could choose from.

1. Universal Studios, Singapore

Here’s an easy one, nearly 50 acres of unadulterated theme park bliss, right in your backyard. This entertainment park is divided into seven movie-based zones where kids can have the time of their lives in settings ranging from Madagascar and Hollywood to Ancient Egypt and The Lost World.

The top rides in the park – the Transformers Ride, the Battlestar Galactica Roller Coaster, the Revenge of the Mummy, King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round, and the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure – are the stuff of entertainment park enthusiasts’ dreams.

Book your passes online to avoid wasting time in queues and always check the Mastercard exclusive offers for tickets and packages on the USS official website.

2. Tokyo Disneyland, Japan

This theme park is designed around films by Walt Disney and is ideal for the younger lot. Plan your Japanese holiday, keeping at least two days for the action-packed trip to Disneyland. Keep it simple and book a hotel within the resort. This will give you priority entrance to the park as well as preference in ticket lines, which is quite a breather when you have the excited brat pack egging you on.

The top rides in Tokyo Disneyland include Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Monsters Inc. Ride & Go Seek, and Space Mountain. There is even a monorail called the Disney Resort Line, a favourite with the little ones, which takes you from the train station to major attractions.

Looking for a good deal? Book these Night Passport options online – there are two that you can choose from, the Starlight Passport and the After 6 Passport, both of which get you into the park in the latter part of the day. You can also get a deal for a multi-day package through Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Packages, which offer different deals combining your hotel stay, tickets, and other goodies.

Ocean Park, a marine-life themed entertainment park that turned 40 this year, is full of exciting rides, animal exhibits, shows, and it even has a playland for the younger kids. This multi-level ride and slide heaven are divided into two parts. The first is near the entrance and the second one is on a mountain, getting to the top of which is half the fun. You have the cable car as well as the train option, so let the kids experience both by taking one on the way up and the other one on the way down!

Other than thrilling rides, Ocean Park has marine life shows, the Pacific Pier where you can feed sea lions and seals, an aquarium dome with over 400 species of fish, and a zoo with Asian animals.

Travel planning tip: Before booking your flights to Hong Kong, sign up for the DBS Altitude Visa Signature Card or Citi Premiermiles Visa Card. These cards give you additional miles for travel bookings and offer attractive sign-up bonus for new applications!

4. Legoland, Malaysia

If your kids have grown up on a Lego diet, this is the place for them. The first Lego-themed park in Asia, the complex combines a Legoland Water Park, a Legoland Hotel, a Star Wars Miniland, and a Legoland Theme Park. Its rides, shows, and Lego sculptures are complemented by Lego specific attractions like robotic Lego programming where robots battle one another, or the Build and Test section where you create tall towers and test their strength during simulated earthquakes!

Good deal heads-up: Maybank card owners are in for a special treat here since there’s a 30% discount on tickets.

5. Everland, South Korea

Everland is one of the best amusement parks in South Korea. One of the most visited, this park is ideally enjoyed on weekdays. Divided into many zones, you can get different experiences at American Adventure, Zootopia, Magic Land, and the like.

Apart from the popular safari rides, the fireworks show, Amazon Express and Horror Maze II, there is also a cable car that takes you around the park. But the showstopper is, without a doubt, the world famous wooden roller coaster called the T-Express. This huge roller coaster figures on every extreme ride list there is. Arm yourselves with a Q-Pass to avoid getting stuck in the queue.

Good deal heads-up: You get a discount on admission if you are not a South Korean national. That is a minimum of S$45 less just for being a foreigner!

Twice as big as Ocean Park in Hong Kong, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom has a massive aquarium, one of the largest in the world. You can get up close and personal with the whale shark, manta rays, and beluga whales among other marine creatures.

The park, with thrilling rides and entertainment, is divided into eight themed zones starting with Ocean Avenue and Dolphin Cove as well as Amazing Amazon and Polar Horizon. Adding to the fun and action are float parades, theatre shows, and fireworks.

Looking for a deal? Try booking a package for both the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom and the Chimelong Hengqin International Circus City. Should save you a few bucks!

Theme parks will always be fun, no matter how old you get, so visit one of these (or more) for a memorable outing with your kids. Pack your travel credit cards or your HSBC Visa Infinite Credit Card to take your travel privileges up a notch!
