Secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) Chee Son Juan will be giving the SDP’s National Day message on Saturday (18 August) at 3 pm.

The leader of the party said that he will talk about current issues that affect our nation such as ministerial salaries and the rising cost of living, noting that the speech will be delivered across SDP’s social media platforms.

Dr Chee will also be spelling out the alternative vision that he and his party colleagues have for Singapore as well as the party’s plans for the next elections.

“So join me next Saturday and, together, let’s start the work for a different, better and more hopeful Singapore,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday (14 August).

In another post, Dr Chee said that he found a range of emotions running through as he wrote his speech for the National Day address, concern about the direction of the country is heading, anger at how we treat elderly poor, frustration at the country’s money-minded ministers.

However, he noted that he also felt a sense of hopeful anticipation that Singaporeans, as a people, can right this wrong.

“I will be addressing these issues and more this Saturday,” he ended his post.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver his National Day Rally 2018 speech on Sunday (19 August) at the Institute of Technical Education at 2 Ang Mo Kio Drive, Singapore 567720.
