A young national gymnast, who is aiming to represent Singapore at the Olympics has been given a boost by Chiam See Tong Sports Fund.
On Saturday, 28 July, the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund announced that it had added Singapore national youth gymnast Robin Sim to its growing list of beneficiaries.
Sim, 17, is a student of ITE College Central and has been involved in gymnastics since he was five years old.
He said, “It is an honour for me to be a recipient of support from the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund. Every bit of support we get will go a long way in helping me in my dream of representing Singapore at the Olympics one of these days.”
Sim has been representing Singapore regularly at competitions both locally and regionally. He finished second in the vault event and team event at the Thailand Open 2018.
He also finished as champion in the floor event at the Singapore National Championships 2018 which was held in March this year. He was also a member of the team which came in first at the Team event.
Ang Peng Siong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund, said, “Robin comes across as a determined and passionate individual who wants to go very far in his sporting career. We are more than happy to support him in his sporting journey.”
The grant provided by the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund will help Sim defray the costs of coaching fees, any supplements and equipment which he may need for his training and competitions.
Sim is the latest athlete to listed as a beneficiary of the Chiam See Tong Sports Fund.
Other athletes who have received support include sailors Cheryl Teo and Olivia Chen, modern pentathlete Kok Kiat Xuan and young footballer Noorazhar Latip.
