Commuters taking the North South Line (NSL) took to social media this morning to complain that there is no train service at Yishun station towards the North. 
 
From their complaints, it can be said that there was no explanation given by the Singapore Mass Rapid Transport (SMRT) on site as to why there is no train service but shuttle buses were available to affected commuters.
 
However, the morning train service disruption is not due to any technical fault but a scheduled change of operating hours.
 
It was announced early in April that seven MRT stations from Khatib to Novena will close earlier at around 11.00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and open later at around 8.00am on Saturdays and Sundays in May 2018.

The additional hours from the early closure and late opening will "more than double" the available time for SMRT's engineering teams to intensify maintenance and accelerate rectification works along the North-South Line, said the train operator in a statement.
 
But around 9.40 am, commuters shared that there is delay along the NSL and subsequently at around 11am, a train breakdown allegedly forced passengers to alight and service disrupted.

Passengers posts on TATA SMRT Facebook gave the information of the train delays along the NSL:

Kamal Mohd wrote: Big crowds at Yishun station towards North point bus stop. Schedules No train services from Yishun to Bishan. From now to 8am.

And at 7:07am Kamal Mohd added:

Kamal Mohd wrote: "Don’t worry they have assigned so many shuttles bus and task force teams very well planned .."

But at about 11:30am, Eileen Tan and John Robert informed that there is an actual train fault along NSL:

Eileen Tan wrote: "All commuters going Khatib, Yio Chu Kang, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan from Sembawang, Woodlands, please make alternative arrangements. All commuters ordered off train at Yishun. Due to train breakdown at another station."

John Robert Lee shared a post of MRT Singapore Service Information; he wrote: " Train fault on the NSL resulting delays from Woodlands to Yishun."
