Vivian Balakrishnan visits US to affirm robust and mutually beneficial bilateral partnership

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced that the Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan met US National Security Advisor Lieutenant General H R McMaster on Tuesday (21 March) to affirm the robust and mutually beneficial bilateral partnership between Singapore and the US.
During the meeting, Minister Balakrishnan and Lieutenant General McMaster also exchanged views on regional and international developments and underscored the importance of the US continued commitment to deepening its engagement with the Asia-Pacific region.
The Ministry stated that Minister Balakrishnan also had separate meetings with members of Congress including Co-Chair of the Congressional ASEAN Caucus Representative Ann Wagner (R-Missouri) and Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska).
It said that during the meetings, both sides discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations.
Minister Balakrishnan also welcomed Representative Wagner’s efforts to deepen the US’ engagement of ASEAN, in light of the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-US relations this year.
The Minister is visiting Washington D.C. from 21 to 23 March 2017.
