SMRT taxi catches fire along Woodlands Avenue 6

A taxi from Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) was seen catching fire along Woodlands Ave 6 on Thursday (19 January) at about 6pm.
The video by Satya Naraya, which was later posted by Ben Chia Lor, showed the taxi was parked on the side of the road. Fire fighters were seen to try to extinguish the fire using their water hose.
Many onlookers were seen across the road as people watch the incident. One of them told Stomp that the fire was so huge that the glass melted off the taxi.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told The Straits Times that it was alerted to the fire at 5.52pm. It then dispatched a fire engine and a Red Rhino.
The spokesman then said that the fire involved the engine compartment of an SMRT taxi.
SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet and two compressed air foam backpacks.
