Fire outbreak at Jalan Besar Plaza force 40 to evacuate from building

40 people evacuated themselves as a fire broke out at Jalan Besar Plaza on Friday (23 December) morning before the officers of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived at the scene.
SCDF spokesperson stated that it was alerted to the fire at 10.30am. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
It also said that it dispatched one fire engine, three Red Rhinos, two fire bikes and three support vehicles. The flames were extinguished using a water jet and two compressed air foam backpacks.
The spokesperson also said that the fire involved discarded items on the ninth floor lift landing of the building.
It added that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
