Six Dim Sum promotions to feast on before 2016 ends

Whether it’s freebies or 40 per cent off your bill, you’ll thank us for sharing these dim sum promotions in Singapore with you.

Hands up if you, too, have been through this ordeal: Dim sum craving strikes — suddenly and forcefully. You could almost taste har gow and creamy custard bun in your mouth from memory as you salivate.

Oh, you simply must get to a dim sum restaurant, pronto. But where?

What happens next can only be described as a Todd Phillips movie. (Read: A series of unfortunate events and detours before you get to your destination — semi-unscathed.)

Instead of picking up the phone and calling the first restaurant that comes to mind, you open your MacBook instead, Google variations of “Best dim sum restaurants in Singapore 2016”.

As you scroll through endless images of dim sum, your craving grows out of control like an aggravated Hulk, and your tummy growls in protest. When you eventually do pick one and make that call, the nice lady with a peculiar accent on the other end of the line tells you she’s sorry, but they are fully booked for the day.

You say thank you in as politely as a miserably hungry person possibly could while screaming “NOOOOOO!” in your head. And you return to the blinking cursor on Google. You get my drift.

But what was the ending to this story? This writer suffered a mild dizzy spell (from the hunger); a lot of anger and, clearly, had no dim sum. With what little energy I had left, I turned to a food delivery service.

If your hand is raised, we’re here to help prevent that from ever happening again. It’s sad. So here it is, a list of dim sum promotions in Singapore that’s great on your taste buds and your wallet.

1.One Dines Free at Min Jiang, Goodwood Park Hotel

Talk about dim sum and the name Min Jiang is bound to come up. After all, the elegant restaurant has been serving some of the best Cantonese and Sichuan fare since 1982, with awards to boot.

If you need another reason to dine here, how about this: A set lunch that combines the best of a la carte dishes and dim sum for S$38++.

Address: 22 Scotts Road, Singapore 228221

Tel: +65 6730 1704

Promotion Details: Use an OCBC credit card or debit card to enjoy the following promotion on the set lunch menu:

Weekdays (Mondays to Fridays): 1 dines free with every 2 paying adults

Weekends (Saturdays & Sundays): 1 dines fee with every 3 paying adults. Valid until 31 October 2016.

2. 25% Off a La Carte Menu at Tien Court Restaurant, Copthorne Kings Hotel

Steamed crab meat dumpling, crispy fried beancurd with prawns and chives, baked flaky egg tarts… We don’t know about you, but we’re hungry.

Get a taste of celebrity masterchef Ho Tien Tsai’s dim sum from now until October 31, and be treated to more than delicious parcels Cantonese favourites at this fine-dining restaurant.

Address: 403 Havelock Road, Singapore 169632

Tel: 6733 0011

Promotion Details: Enjoy 25 per cent off the a la carte menu when you pay with an OCBC credit card or debit card! Valid until 31 October 2016.

3. Free Prestige Pipa Duck at Crystal Jade Prestige

Everything is better with a view, agree? We imagine having dim sum overlooking the Marina Bay certainly would be a treat for all senses.

Crystal Jade Prestige’s Weekend Brunch By The Bay is out to make your weekend an affair to remember with a sumptuous eight-course menu —appetizer, soup, dim sum, wok-fried dish, main course and dessert — from only S$38 per person.

Address: 8A Marina Boulevard #02-01, Marina Bay Link Mall (Ground Plaza)

Tel: 6509 9493

Promotion Details: If you’re a Jadeite member armed with a DBS or POSB credit or debit card, we bear more good news: if you do the 8-course weekend brunch, a Prestige Pipa Duck with fermented beancurd sauce will be served and it’ll be on the house. Promotion ends November 17, 2016.

4. 1-For-1 Xiao Long Bao at Paradise Dynasty

Forget #TBT. We are all about #TGIT because, #XLB (that’s xiao long bao).

What are we talking about? At Paradise Dynasty, Thursdays are one-for-one xiao long bao days all the way until December 29 this year. But only if you have a Maybank credit or debit card.

Alternatively, if you’re an OCBC cardholder, a $10 return voucher sounds equally enticing, too.

For more information and terms and conditions, click here.

Address: 2 Orchard Turn, #04-12a Ion Orchard, 04-12A ION Orchard, 238801

Tel: 6509 9117

Promotion Details: Get a 6-piece 1-for-1 xiao long bao with your Maybank credit or debit card. Valid every Thursday, excluding the eve of and during Public Holidays. Promotion ends on 29 December 2016.

5. Free Dim Sum Trio Platter at Jiang-Nan Chun, Four Seasons Singapore

Once in a while, when a special occasion calls for it, or when it’s time to give yourself a pat on the back, you go big.

At times like these, we like to make a beeline for the Four Seasons and do a little living-it-up. Should such an occasion arise between now and October 31, Jiang-Nan Chun is all set to give you a little something extra in the form of a complimentary dim sum trio platter, subject to a minimum spend of $40.

Payment must be made with an OCBC credit or debit card.

For more information and terms and condition, click here.

Address: 190 Orchard Boulevard Singapore 039797

Tel: 6831 7220

Promotion Details: Get a free dim sum trio platter when you spend a minimum of S$40 and make your payment with an OCBC debit or credit card. Valid until 31 October 2016.

6. 40% Off Dim Sum at Red House Seafood, Prinsep Street

If you love Red House for their famous chili crab, brace yourself for this: They also serve dim sum, in case you don’t already know, and until December 31, all dim sum is yours to eat for a whopping 40 percent off.

This generosity marks the restaurant’s celebration of their 40th anniversary this year.

And now if you’ll excuse us, there’s some hand-made signature Takesumi chilli crab bao to stuff our faces with.

Address: 68 Prinsep Street, Singapore 188661

Tel: 6336 6080.
