Retired SAF dogs in search of new homes
The Military Working Dog Unit (MWDU) have announced that they are in search of potential homes for their retired military dogs. The Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) in-house publication Cyberpioneer has the details and pictures of MWDU’s 18 canine veterans looking for new families.
All large breeds, such as Retrievers and German Shepherds, the dogs up for adoption are 8-years-old or older.
The SAF also states that all their dogs have completed basic obedience training and have had their health checks done by in-house veterinarians. This includes annual vaccinations and a heartworm prevention programme.
Any potential adoptors will have their homes screened by a dog trainer to ensure appropriate living conditions for the new pet.
MWDU has run constant adoption drives for its retired military dogs. Interested adopters can make an appointment with the MWDU by calling their hotline at 64246623.
Cyberpioneer noted that the SAF will continue to care for these retired dogs till their last day even if there is no adopters.
