Speaking at a FutureChina Global Forum on Tuesday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the Government has “Singaporeans’ interests at heart” when it came to immigration and population policies.
He said “it makes sense to take in foreign labour and immigrants” purely from the perspective of numbers.
“But from an emotional standpoint, it is not easy for people to accept, to agree and support,” he said.
“We have explained the reasons many times. I think people may not necessarily want more explanations.”
