Teens plan projects for cyber wellness, promoting kindness online

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOver 65 young people from 11 schools made their voices heard at a forum on kindness online on 1 July afternoon, held at *SCAPE Ground Theatre.

The Kindness Youth Dialogue 2015 is one of the Singapore Kindness Movement’s (SKM) flagship initiatives, engaging young Singaporeans in a collaborative process of developing ideas and implementing solutions to some of the problems facing our society today.

Themed “On the Other Side of the Screen” and running for four hours, the dialogue session tackled issues of Internet behaviour and cyber wellness.

Panellists include Mr Nicholas Lim from the Media Literacy Council, and Mr Cesar Balota, Associate General Secretary at SKM, who engaged with passionate young people to identify problem areas and build effective solutions to bridge kindness between the online and offline spheres.

SKM also offered a Seed Kindness Fund of up to S$1,000 to participants to help implement their ideas for promoting kindness and cyber wellness in their schools and in the community.

WeTheSocial, the beneficiaries of the Seed Kindness programme last year, and The Brolls, which encourages individuals to pledge their support at brollzone.com by spreading messages of positivity online, were also present to share their initiatives.
