Masagos showcases Govt’s inflexible policy approach depending on societal norms when asked for more support for single unwed parents
During the parliamentary discussion on government support for single unwed parents, Minister Masagos Zulkifli emphasized that policies must reflect societal norms and values. He expressed concern that providing too much support may incentivize single parenthood. In response, MP Louis Ng cited examples from Japan where improving policies did not lead to a spike in unwed parents.
