SINGAPORE— Qman JunYong, a content creator, never expected a brief stop at a toilet in Oxley Residence would end up with him being trapped inside for almost one and a half hours.

Soaked in sweat, he tried everything in the toilet to break the door lock until someone came to his rescue. To make matters worse, he was allegedly asked by the condo management to pay for the damages to the door lock.

On Tuesday (March 28th), JunYong shared his terrifying experience on TikTok, recording the entire ordeal.

JunYong, who is also an event planner, was supposed to attend a balloon sculpting event at Oxley Residence but ended up being late for the event after entering the toilet at the car park around 12:30 pm that day and getting locked inside.

“I have to record this: I’m trapped inside this toilet, completely alone! What’s worse, there’s no mobile signal or internet! Ah, I don’t know what to do now.”

In the video, he can be seen using a makeshift tool – a pole with a balloon pump – to hit the toilet door lock “with his milk strength,” and finally breaking the door handle down.

But the door lock remained stubbornly jammed, even he knocked down the door handle.

“I’m really tired, I don’t know how long I can last, my event already started 15 minutes ago,” JunYong can be seen exhausted, his clothes soaked in sweat.

He later slipped a piece of tape with the word “help” out of the toilet and hoped someone would see it. He then prayed and called for help twice, and eventually someone heard him and came to assist. He was freed at about 2 pm.

While he was still soaked in sweat and recounting the feeling of desperation, he alleged that someone from the condo called him and requested that he pay for the damages to the toilet door.

“Then I told the guy: there was no signal inside (the toilet), and it’s a matter of life and death. It was so hot inside that I felt like I was going to die. I thought it was a bit unreasonable.”

“I didn’t expect this either. I was also locked inside. If I had the signal and 4G, I would definitely have made a phone call. You know that feeling, it’s very helpless,” he said.

“I am not sure about the amount I have to pay, and I hope they will show me some mercy and waive the fee,” JunYong stated.

He also mentioned that fortunately his customer was understanding and did not get angry at him after learning about his ordeal, and even agreed to reschedule the event.

Recent case of woman being trapped in home toilet for four days

Being locked inside a toilet can be a terrifying experience, as was the case for a woman who was trapped in her home toilet for four days in November 2022 after the door handle was dislodged.

Fortunately, she was eventually rescued by two police officers who found her after receiving a call for assistance from a relative who reported her missing.

The officers managed to gain access to her unit and found her trapped inside the bathroom, where she had been stuck for four days with no means of contact or escape.

A reality check on Lawrence Wong’s claims: Are today’s HDB flats as affordable as those in the 1980s and 1990s?

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s assertion that today’s HDB flats remain as affordable as those in the past seems challenged by historical data and price-to-income ratio analysis. With incomes increasing only about 3.3 times against a 5.8-fold rise in BTO prices, are public housing truly in tandem with incomes as claimed?
