As of Friday noon (16 Oct), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 infection.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 57,901.

There is one new case of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection.

“Based on our investigations so far, the case resides in a dormitory and there are no new cases in the community,” said MOH.

In addition, there are eight new imported cases, who had all been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Amongst the new cases today, 7 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 2 were symptomatic.

Of the new cases, 89% are imported or linked to known cases/ clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

MOH has been monitoring existing clusters for any further transmission. As there have been no more cases linked to the cluster at The Jovell construction site (27 Flora Drive) for the past two incubation periods (i.e. 28 days), the cluster has now been closed.

No new clusters were identified.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

20 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 57,784 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 30 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 59 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

This is the first time since 12 March 2020 that the number of active cases (comprising cases who are hospitalised or at community facilities) has fallen below 100.
