疫情时禁锢三客工约40天 公司经理被罚9千元
疫情期间将三名客工禁锢在一间房内约40天,公司经理被罚款9千元。
被告彭桐兴(译音,Shaun Pang Tong Heng),日前因涉嫌于5月至6月期间,三名客工禁锢在一间房内约40天,被控三项非法禁锢控状,近日已认罪,其余控状也将会在下判时一并纳入考量。
《海峡时报》报道,三名印度籍客工,于5月12日至15日首次被禁锢,接下来则是长达五周的禁锢,从5月19日至6月26日。
至于禁锢客工的原因,被告称客工在疫情期间,曾离开住处欲到外面购买酒,而且其中一名客工也非法驾驶,于是被告将客工们视为“搞事”。而对于禁锢的行为,被告也非常懊悔。
根据庭上指出,三人被禁锢在一间干净、有厕所和无线网络的房间内,同时也会定时定点送餐和水。
尽管如此,控方认为这不构成禁锢客工的正当理由,事发当下应该选择报警处理。
非法禁锢罪一经定罪,将可被判处最高三年监禁和罚款。
