After a discussion between the president of the National Solidarity Party (NSP) Reno Fong, and secretary-general of the People’s Power Party (PPP) Goh Meng Seng, an agreement has been reached. Mr Fong decided the “better fit candidate” should run.

”We’ll step back to allow Goh Meng Seng to contest in MacPherson and avoid a three-corner fight,” he said.

Mr Goh confirmed that the arrangement was cordial at his walkabout at MacPherson Market and Food Centre. “The first thing I did before I decided (to contest in MacPherson) was to give a courtesy call to NSP”, he said.

“When I made the decision to run in MacPherson, I had a certain confidence that we would have an understanding and there would not be a problem,” he added.

This SMC is the only constituency that PPP will be contesting in in upcoming General Elections.

NSP will still contest in two group representation constituencies – Tampines and Sembawang.
