Do you wish to set eyes on Christmas trees that are simply “out of this world”? Well then, head over to the Marina Bay Area to immerse yourself in an Augmented Reality (AR) Christmas tree experience like no other.
A total of 100 AR Christmas trees – designed and developed by AR Creative Director, Timothi Lim of The Doodle People – are now hidden in plain sight at five locations at the Marina Bay Area. Each of the locations bears a different Christmas theme:

  1. Marina Promenade – Stars theme
  2. UOE Building – Angels theme
  3. One Fullerton – Hearts theme
  4. Marina Link Mall – Gifts theme
  5. Marina One – Doves theme

Simply locate and scan the QR code on the metal information board located next to the physical Christmas trees at the above locations to trigger the AR experience.
These AR trees are part of the ChariTrees initiative, a fundraising movement which was launched by the Community Chest in 2011. Since 2018, ChariTrees has been organised by not-for-profit arts and culture organisation, The Rice Company Ltd, to honour Singapore’s community heroes and raise funds for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF).
This year’s ChariTrees with an added magical AR touch is a collaboration between The Doodle People and The Rice Company Ltd.
So, if you do not wish to end up on Santa’s naughty list this year, best to head over to witness and spread the festive vibes – AR style! After all, this unique experience does offer a wonderful opportunity for a memorable date night or evening out with loved ones.
The AR installations will end on 26 December 2019.
