baby54-year old Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, is now a grandfather – and just as the old year of 2015 came to an end.
Posting on his Facebook page just past midnight on Thursday morning, Dr Vivian announced the birth of his grandson, along with a photo of the infant.
“Our newborn grandson wishes everyone a very Happy New Year!”, the minister, who lives in Bukit Timah where he is also the Member of Parliament, said. “You only truly understand how much your parents love you when you hold your own child for the first time. Today my daughter and her husband will discover this fact of life.”
Dr Vivian has been married to Joy Balakrishnan for 28 years, and they have four children – a daughter, Natalie, and three boys.
Dr Vivian’s post has been “liked” almost 10,000 times thus far, with almost 700 comments wishing him the best and offering their congratulations.
“I wish all your families much happiness and good health as we celebrate the New Year and new life,” Dr Vivian, who first joined politics in 2001, said.
