On Wednesday (21 Aug), Temasek Shophouse and NUS Business School’s Asia Centre for Social Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy (ACSEP) have come together to launch ‘For Love Shines: An Ode to 200 Years of Philanthropy in Singapore’, a Singapore Bicentennial exhibition.
‘For Love Shines: An Ode to 200 Years of Philanthropy in Singapore’ is conceptualised from NUS ACSEP’s landmark research “Philanthropy in Asia Series” that delves into 200 years of philanthropy. The exhibition highlights five significant eras that demonstrate the evolution of Singapore’s philanthropy-scape.

“With 2019 marking the Singapore Bicentennial, Temasek Shophouse is proud to present ‘An Ode to 200 Years of Philanthropy of Singapore’.
This exhibition was created in partnership with the NUS Asia Centre for Social Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy, or ACSEP. It showcases their
landmark research documenting our country’s deep roots in giving, and stands as a testament to the significant role philanthropy has played in addressing Singapore’s social needs – both yesterday and today, said Ms Yvonne Tay, Director of Temasek Shophouse, in her welcome speech during the launch.
“Through the stories shown here, we hope that our communities will gain a better appreciation of the evolution of Singapore’s philanthropic landscape and be inspired to carry on the good work done, to pioneer new pathways and innovative models of philanthropy that will benefit both Singapore, and the world beyond,” she added.
