Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has granted an extension of deadline to blogger Roy Ngerng to comply with his demands regarding a blog post which Mr Ngerng had published.
The request for an extension was made by Mr Ngerng and Mr Lee’s press secretary has confirmed that Mr Lee has given Mr Ngerng till 5pm on Friday to decide if he will comply with his demands.
Mr Ngerng was originally supposed to comply by Wednesday, a 3-day period from the issuance of the letter of demand by Mr Lee’s lawyers from law firm Drew and Napier.
Mr Lee took the legal action after Mr Ngerng’s article allegedly accused Mr Lee of “misappropriation” of Singaporeans’ CPF monies.
Mr Ngerng has since removed that article from his blog.
Lawyer M Ravi, who is representing Mr Ngerng, says his client will decide by Friday whether to accede to Mr Lee’s demands, which include the removal of the blog post and links to it on Mr Ngerng’s Facebook pages, an apology to be published on his blog, and to pay Mr Lee compensation and legal fees.
