A record-breaking number of internally displaced people (IDPs) reached 71.1 million in 2022 due to a convergence of crises, including Russia’s war in Ukraine and devastating floods in Pakistan. The total number of new internal displacements rose to 60.9 million, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.
