Pioneer Generation to receive up to $1,200 in MediSave top-ups in July
About 300,000 members of Singapore’s Pioneer Generation will receive MediSave top-ups of between $300 and $1,200 in July. The payout, amounting to over $160 million, follows a review of MediShield Life and aims to help seniors with healthcare and insurance costs.

SINGAPORE: About 300,000 Singaporeans from the Pioneer Generation will receive MediSave top-ups of between $300 and $1,200 in July, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced on Monday (16 June).
The payouts, amounting to more than $160 million in total, represent an increase from the $250 to $900 disbursed in 2024. The higher amounts follow a review of MediShield Life, MOF added.
These MediSave top-ups can be used to pay for premiums under MediShield Life, CareShield Life, ElderShield, and other MediSave-approved insurance plans.
They may also be used for medical expenses, including hospitalisation, day surgeries, and selected outpatient treatments.
Pioneers will receive these top-ups in addition to their annual GST vouchers for Singaporeans aged 65 and above.
The payout amounts will vary by birth cohort. Singaporeans born between 1945 and 1949 will receive $300, while those born from 1940 to 1944 will get $500.
Individuals born between 1935 and 1939 will receive $700, and those born in 1934 or earlier will get $1,200.
In addition, older Pioneers—specifically those born in 1939 or earlier—who have serious pre-existing medical conditions will receive an additional $50 or $200 to help offset their higher MediShield Life premiums.
MOF explained that these older Pioneers receive larger MediSave top-ups as they typically have lower savings than younger members of the Pioneer Generation and may require more support to pay their annual premiums.
The top-ups will be automatically credited to eligible recipients’ CPF MediSave accounts.
Together with special premium subsidies available for the Pioneer Generation, these annual top-ups aim to keep MediShield Life premiums affordable.
Pioneers aged 91 and above in 2025 will continue to have their MediShield Life premiums fully covered, while younger Pioneers will have about two-thirds of their premiums covered.
Eligible Pioneers who have registered their mobile numbers with Singpass before 2 June 2025 will receive SMS notifications by 18 June informing them of their respective top-up amounts.
Others will receive notification letters by the end of June.
To safeguard against scams, MOF stressed that official SMS notifications will only provide information about the benefits and will not request any replies or personal details.
No messages on the Pioneer Generation benefits will be sent via WhatsApp or other messaging platforms.
