SINGAPORE: A couple in Singapore has been praised for their thoughtfulness after putting up a notice in their HDB lift to apologise in advance for any potential noise during their wedding ceremony.

The couple, worried that the celebration might disturb their neighbours, informed them that the wedding would be held on Saturday (7 June) and that noise might be heard between 4am and 7am.

“We sincerely apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” the notice read, as seen in a TikTok video shared by user Ariel.

Unexpectedly, the couple’s gesture sparked a wave of kindness.

When Ariel stepped into the lift, she saw several sticky notes left by neighbours, all containing warm congratulations and well-wishes for the newlyweds.

Ariel and her family also decided to join in, writing their own message: “Congrats. Wishing you love, happiness and well wishes on your union, all the best!”

As she placed the sticky note, Ariel discovered that other lifts in the block also had similar congratulatory messages from residents.

“Super nice of them to be considerate. No complaints from our block, just well-wishes,” Ariel remarked in the video.

She captioned the post: “Kampung spirit in a modern way, I guess!”
