Singapore healthcare worker accused of livestreaming patient’s medical procedures on TikTok
A healthcare worker allegedly livestreamed a medical procedure on TikTok, showing a patient in “severe pain.”
The breach of confidentiality sparked outrage after being exposed on Complaint Singapore.
The nursing agency apologised, confirmed the TikTok account’s removal, and pledged to strengthen confidentiality protocols.
SINGAPORE: A healthcare worker in Singapore has come under scrutiny for allegedly livestreaming medical procedures on TikTok and exposing sensitive patient information.
The worker, identified by her TikTok handle, @crishella, is reportedly associated with the nursing agency Aseana Caregivers, based on her uniform seen in the videos.
The allegations first emerged in a Facebook post by user Hus Farrah, shared in the public group Complaint Singapore.
According to the post, the worker is accused of not only livestreaming the medical procedures but also revealing patients’ identification numbers, medication information, and other private details.
Hus Farrah further alleged that at least one video showed a patient in “severe pain during the procedure.”
“This severe breach of patient confidentiality and trust is unacceptable and can cause irreparable harm to the patients and their loved ones.”
The post prompted widespread concern and criticism, as it suggested a serious breach of patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
In her post, Hus Farrah urged authorities such as Aseana Caregivers, the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Agency’s Response
Aseana Caregivers quickly addressed the allegations in a comment on the Facebook post, thanking the user for highlighting the issue.
“We take patient confidentiality very seriously and have taken immediate action to address the situation,” the agency stated.
The nursing agency also noted that they are currently reviewing their internal policies and procedures to ensure stricter adherence to confidentiality and privacy standards.
Additionally, the TikTok account associated with the allegations has since been removed.
“We apologise for any distress or concern this incident may have caused,” Aseana Caregivers added.
