The body of a 30-year-old woman was found in a Dover HDB flat on 2 December 2024.
Police believe a 34-year-old man, known to the victim, left Singapore before the case was reported. Investigations are ongoing.
SINGAPORE: The police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman whose body was found in an HDB flat in Dover on 2 December 2024.
In a statement to Lianhe Zaobao, police said they received a call for assistance at approximately 5.10pm at a residential unit along Dover Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman lying motionless. Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force later pronounced her dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 34-year-old man, known to the woman, is believed to have left Singapore prior to the call for assistance.
Police have described him as someone who can assist with their inquiries.
A neighbour, speaking anonymously, reported that police had been present at the scene since 5pm.
Another resident, who lives directly below the affected unit, mentioned her mother hearing ambulance sirens around that time.
Zaobao reported that the incident took place on the 11th floor of Block 1, Dover Road.
According to the report, at least three police cars and multiple officers, including personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department, were seen at the location.
Residents described a tense atmosphere as police cordoned off the area.
A 32-year-old clerk, identified only by her surname Zhang, who resides on the 10th floor, said she noticed police vehicles downstairs upon returning home at around 6pm.
“We didn’t know what happened, but later we heard that the police were investigating something on the 11th floor,” she said.
This incident follows a separate murder case on 30 November 2024, in which a 66-year-old man was charged with the murder of a 67-year-old woman at her Ang Mo Kio HDB flat.
That alleged offence is believed to have occurred between 27 and 29 November.
The Dover case marks the eighth murder or alleged murder in Singapore this year.
Police investigations are ongoing.
