UNITED STATES: After a tense presidential campaign marked by two assassination attempts on Donald Trump and Joe Biden’s decision to step aside for Vice President Kamala Harris in July, Trump appears set for a return to the White House.

As of 3:55 PM (Singapore time), Trump holds 267 electoral votes, just three short of the required 270, while Harris trails with 194. Fox News has projected Trump’s win, marking a remarkable comeback after his exit from office four years ago.

Addressing his supporters early Wednesday in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump expressed gratitude to his supporters and outlined his vision for a renewed America.

Joined on stage by his wife, Melania, his family, running mate JD Vance, and House Speaker Mike Johnson, Trump celebrated the movement behind his victory.

“We have thousands of friends in this incredible movement,” he said. “This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time.”

He assured his supporters that the journey ahead would focus on healing and growth.

“We’re going to help our country heal,” he continued, pledging to make America “strong, safe and prosperous” for future generations. Declaring this period as the “golden age of America,” he also claimed victory in the popular vote, though final counts remain pending.

Vice President Harris, however, has not yet addressed her supporters, who had gathered at Howard University, her alma mater.

Campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond spoke briefly to the crowd after midnight, hinting at the ongoing vote count and noting Harris’s plans to speak publicly on Wednesday.

This year’s results are being reported earlier than in the 2020 election, when networks took four days to project Joe Biden’s win over Trump. In contrast, previous elections have often seen results declared much sooner, with Barack Obama’s 2012 victory announced before midnight on election day.

Despite the early projection, the final vote count in some states remains underway, but Trump’s projected win has already sparked celebrations among supporters and marks another historic chapter in modern American politics.
