SINGAPORE: A 56-year-old man was arrested in Singapore’s Bukit Merah on 19 October for alleged fraudulent possession of property and suspected drug-related offenses.
Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 5 pm at 107 Jalan Bukit Merah.
According to a video shared on TikTok on 23 October, the man was subdued by a group of male passers-by who assisted police officers in restraining him.
In the footage, around five men can be seen helping two officers hold the man down on the ground, pinning his abdomen and legs to prevent him from struggling.
At one point, another bystander is seen jumping over a metal fence to secure the man with his knees.
“A group of quick-thinking residents and workers have helped to subdue a violent man,” commented a person recording the scene.
After police successfully handcuffed the man, the bystanders dispersed.
More police officers arrived shortly afterward to assist with the arrest.
The video concludes with the man being taken into an ambulance on a stretcher.
Police later confirmed that he was transported to the hospital in a conscious state.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
