Bibigo Mandu Prawn Dumplings recalled over undeclared egg allergen
SFA recalls Bibigo prawn dumplings from Vietnam for undeclared egg allergen. The affected products are Bibigo’s Mandu Prawn Dumplings (350g) and Mini Mandu Prawn Dumplings (360g). CJ SE Asia to initiate recall process.
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has issued a recall notice for Bibigo prawn dumplings imported from Vietnam due to the presence of undeclared egg allergen in the product.
Importer CJ SE Asia has been instructed to initiate the recall process for the affected batches, as egg, being a common allergen, poses potential health risks to sensitive individuals. The recall is currently in progress.
According to SFA‘s announcement on 25 March, Bibigo’s Mandu Prawn Dumplings (350g) and Mini Mandu Prawn Dumplings (360g) manufactured by CJ Cau Tre are subject to voluntary recall.
The affected 350g packs bear best-before dates of 20 May, 15 Sept, 3 Nov, and 16 Nov in 2024, along with 20 Feb 2025.
Similarly, the 360g packs of mini dumplings being recalled exhibit best-before dates of 22 May, 19 Sept, 4 Nov, 16 Nov in 2024, and 21 Feb, 2025.
While eggs generally do not pose significant food safety concerns, individuals intolerant or allergic to eggs may experience adverse reactions if consumed.
SFA emphasizes the importance of accurately declaring all allergenic ingredients on food packaging labels to safeguard consumers with food allergies, as mandated by Singapore’s Food Regulations.
Consumers who have purchased the affected products and are intolerant or allergic to eggs are advised to refrain from consuming them.
Those who have already consumed the prawn dumplings and are concerned about their health should seek medical advice promptly, as allergic reactions to allergens can vary in severity.
