MELAKA, MALAYSIA — A 91-year-old woman who lived alone at her village house, is suspected to have been murdered in a robbery at 2 am today (20 January).
According to Sinar Harian, the crime happened at Kilometer 16 of Kampung Pulai Darat, Merlimau.
A neighbour found the nonagenarian lying motionless in the kitchen.
Jasin acting police chief Supt Mohd Fadzli Othman said police were informed of the crime at 3.54 am.
The medical officers arrived at the crime scene and confirmed the victim was dead.
“Upon arriving at the location, the victim, who lived alone, was found to have already died. Her body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination, ” Mohd Fadzli said.
With tip-off from the public, police arrested a 20-year-old suspect in the nearby area at 8 am.
Mohd Fadzli said the suspect is unemployed with three previous robbery-related criminal records.
The investigation is ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The victim was identified as Misah Md Amin. The neighbour, who declined to be named, claimed that she heard noises from the victim’s kitchen at about 2 am.
The neighbour said she ran to assist the victim and noticed a man fleeing from the scene.
