SELANGOR, MALAYSIA — A human torso and a suitcase stuffed with other body parts, were found along the North-South Expressway in Malaysia yesterday (17 January).

In a media statement released yesterday, Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar, Sungai Buloh district police chief said they received a call from the public informing them about the incident at 11.45am.

Police found a headless torso at the crime scene. A black-coloured suitcase stuffed with a human’s head, hands and legs, was also found nearby.

“The identity of the victim has yet to be determined. There were also no identification documents at the scene.”

Police suspected the victim was likely a foreigner as they did not find BCG injection marks on the body.

“We have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” Shafa’aton said.

The police had since sent the victim’s body to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for post-mortem exam.

Food prices in Malaysia are predicted to rise 5-20% due to a weaker ringgit, increased transportation costs, rising global commodity prices, and weather-related disruptions. Higher operation costs are leading to price hikes, with the retail chain Mydin predicting a 5-10% increase due to business cost escalation. The sugar industry, facing high input costs, is also expected to see price increases. However, government-controlled sugar prices will remain stable.
