KELANTAN, MALAYSIA — Three sisters at Kampung Bendang Surau near Morak, Kelantan, were unfortunately electrocuted to death while wading through floodwaters.

The tragedy is said to happen at approximately 11.45 am yesterday (19 Nov).

It is understood that one of the three sisters had touched a pillar with a live current running through it while they were wading through the floodwater in front of their neighbour’s house.

The 33-year-old eldest sister, Nurul Syazwani, was a preschool teacher.

According to Sinar Harian, the 50-year-old neighbour who only wishes to be known as Nor witnessed Nurul slippling in the flood water and grabbing a pillar, where she was then electrocuted.

Seeing Nurul Syazwani fall, She said two other victims, Noor Fatihah(27) and Sakinah(29), rushed to help their sister but also succumbed to the same fate.

“I happened to be near the scene of the incident and rushed to alert other villagers for help before calling the emergency,” she told the press.

Nor said before this, she even greeted the three siblings who were wading in the flood water in front of her house.

Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, Kelantan police chief, said the three siblings were brought to the Tumpat Hospital for their autopsies.

“Tenaga Nasional Berhad(TNB, electricity company in Peninsula Malaysia ) has been informed to cut off the electricity supply to the incident area and to carry out further action,” Zaki Harun added.

The victim’s father, 67-year-old Mohd Nadzir Mohamad, broke down in tears and watched helplessly at the sight of his daughters lying motionlessly in the floodwater.

“My heart was shattered when I saw my three daughters in the water, and it took everything in me not to rush to their aid while waiting for the electricity supply to be cut off.”

The three sisters were buried in a Muslim cemetery at the Kampung Morak.
