HONG KONG, CHINA — Fans of the 90’s Hong Kong movies, would surely recognise veteran actor Bowie Wu Feng and actress Helena Law Lan who had made many appearances in HK films and impressed many with their exceptional acting skills over the past few decades and even till today.

Recently, Wu held a concert to commemorate his 90th birthday where he had HK prominent singer Jacky Cheung and Golden Horse Award Winner Nick Cheung joining him on stage.

Following his birthday celebration concert, viral news online claimed that he had proposed to 88-year-old Helena Law at the concert’s backstage.

A news video shared on an entertainment website, TVB 最新资讯 reported that Law has been by Wu’s side for years, especially after Wu lost his wife Lui Wing Ho in 2016, and have been getting close to each other.

It claims that Wu dropped the proposal while both were at the concert backstage with Law accepting the proposal.

A couple of China’s clickbait social media further claimed that the duo are not planning on holding a banquet nor getting a marriage certificate to signify their bond. although their relationship is “official”.

“Helena Law said that at their age, they don’t want a ceremony. They just want to support each other for the rest of their lives.” the article narrated.

Bowie Wu Laughed Off The “Beautiful Rumors”

The news of Wu’s proposal to Helena has since spread wildly on social media as many netizens left comments on social media to congratulate the duo.

However, when Hong Kong media HK01 called Wu to verify this story, the latter laughed the matter off, saying that it was purely a “beautiful rumor”.

“A lot of people called me, even congratulate to me via WhatsApp, I can only say this is ridiculous,”  Wu asked the reporter: “Do you believe it?”

Law also received tons of congratulatory messages.

She laughed heartily when interviewed by Singapore media Shin Min Daily News regarding the alleged proposal.

“What do you think? Of course it is fake!” said Law.

She told the media that she has known Wu for more than half a century. She met Wu’s wife late Lui Wing Ho before their marriage and was well-acquainted with Lui.

“I was a guest at Bowie Wu’s concert, but Wu never went backstage to propose to me. I don’t know where the rumours come from.”

The duo will co-produce a new TVB drama, in the play both of them live in a nursing house and fall in love with each other.

Taking the high road: India infrastructure drive counters China

China’s renaming of the Indian frontier village of Zemithang, in the disputed region of Arunachal Pradesh, has sparked tension between the two Asian powers. The area remains disputed to this day, and both India and China have launched major construction drives to reinforce their positions. While India has increased its defence capabilities and invested in connectivity projects to boost civilian presence, Beijing has developed “xiaokang”, or well-to-do villages, along the Line of Actual Control, which New Delhi fears could be used for dual purposes in the event of a conflict.
