Heavy downpours have caused flash floods and major traffic jams in some parts of Singapore on Friday morning (20 Aug).
Videos circulating on social media show the water level dangerously reaching nearly 1m at the junction of Pasir Ris Drive 12 and Tampines Avenue 10.
Many vehicles can be seen trapped in the flash flood.
Motorists and passengers from about 13 vehicles were subsequently evacuated by officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
SCDF said in a statement that it received a call for assistance at around 7.40am this morning.
One person was conveyed to Changi General Hospital for leg injuries.
In a Facebook post at 8.07am earlier today, PUB warned that water levels in drains and canals have reached 90 per cent in certain areas due to heavy rain.
Noting that many areas were at risk of flash floods, it advised members of the public to avoid the following areas for the next one hour:
- Siang Kuang Ave (Unit 35) (Issued at 8.04am)
- Upper Paya Lebar Road (Issued at 8.08am)
- Lor Gambir/Gambir Walk (Issued at 8.12am)
- Puay Hee Ave/ Siak Kew Ave (Issued at 8.12am)
- Lr 2 Toa Payoh (Blk 122) (Issued at 8.15am)
- Langsat Road/ Lor 105 Changi (Issued at 8.18am)
- Macpherson Rd/ Playfair Rd (Issued at 8.20am)
- Mt Vernon Rd (Issued at 8.20am)
- Playfair Rd OD (Bartley Rd East) (Issued at 8.21am)
- Jln Lokam/ Upp Paya Lebar Rd (Issued at 8.21am)
In a separate Facebook post at 10.07am, PUB advised members of the public to avoid these areas for the next one hour:
