Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) shared a video on its Facebook page on Monday (9 August) to wish all Singaporeans a happy 56th National Day, and urged everyone to stay united amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“56 years ago, we were a tiny dot with barely anything to our name, as far as the modern world was concerned. Unimaginable hard work and tears shed by our forefathers have brought us to where we are right now,” said the alternative party.

It added, “With the pandemic looming over us all, let’s stay united Singapore… This National Day & beyond.”

In the video, members of SDP also took the opportunity to wish Happy National Day to fellow Singaporeans.

Some of the members who were featured in the video include the party’s chairman Paul Tambyah, Bryan Lim, Min Cheong, Dr James Gomez, Alfred Tan and more.

Leong Mun Wai responds to ‘confrontational’ label: Pursuing answers is a Parliamentarian’s duty

Addressing the critique of his ‘confrontational’ parliamentary style, Progress Singapore Party Secretary-General, Leong Mun Wai emphasises his commitment to obtaining answers. He believes that asking follow-up questions and persisting for definitive answers are core duties of a parliamentarian. Mr Leong invites Singaporeans to judge whether his approach is confrontational while Dr Tan Cheng Bock, PSP founder, stresses that Mr Leong’s style is merely distinct, focused on eliciting answers rather than instigating confrontations.
