Groups of up to five persons will be allowed for dining-in at food and beverage (F&B) outlets starting from next Monday (12 July), which is aligned with the social gathering group size currently allowed, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday (7 July).

This came two weeks after the Government allowed dining in and indoor mask-off sports to resume in group sizes of up to two persons from 21 June.

In a statement earlier today, MOH noted that the easing of measures comes as the number of new COVID-19 community cases decreased from 86 the week before to 28 in the past week as of 5 July.

“The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 14 cases in the week before to 4 cases in the past week,” it stated.

Entertainment at F&B outlets, however, will continue to be prohibited as this is necessary to reduce the expulsion of droplets from individuals having to raise their voices over the entertainment, said the Ministry.

“Patrons are reminded to adhere to all other SMMs, e.g. social distancing and keeping masks on at all times except when eating or drinking,” it added.

MOH noted that social gatherings at the workplace can also resume, but work-from-home will continue to remain the default arrangement to reduce overall interaction within workplaces and on public transport.

Gyms and fitness studios will also be allowed to conduct indoor mask-off sports in group sizes of up to five persons, similar to indoor mask-on and outdoor activities.

In addition, sports and exercise classes can continue in groups of not more than five persons, in classes of up to 50 persons including the instructor, or the capacity limit of the venue, whichever is lower.

MOH stated that SportSG will release more details on this.

Wedding receptions can also resume from 12 July with no more than 250 persons allowed with Pre-Event Testing (PET). While for wedding receptions with 50 persons or less, PET will be required for the wedding party only.

“As wedding receptions are higher-risk activities where attendees tend to socialise more and over a longer period of time, attendees must adhere to all other SMMs to reduce the risk of transmission. Refer to MSF’s advisory for further details,” it stated.
