25 new cases of COVID-19 infection in S’pore; 3 out of 22 locally transmitted cases unlinked
As of Sunday noon (23 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 25 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total number of infection cases to 61,824.
There are 22 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection. 19 are linked to previous cases, amongst which 12 have already been placed on quarantine.
“The remaining 3 are currently unlinked,” said MOH.
“Based on our investigations so far, 21 are in the community, and 1 resides in a dormitory.”
In addition, there are three new imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore. Of these, two are returning Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs).
The Ministry will share further updates in its press release tonight.
According to last night’s press release, there are currently 255 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and five are in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).
235 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
32 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
