Over 10,000 organisations have adopted at least one Tripartite Standard, with 600 Human Capital Partners (HCPartners) recognized by the tripartite partners, said Minister of Manpower Josephine Teo in a written reply on Monday (10 May).

Mrs Teo was responding to a Parliamentary question by Member of Parliament (MP) for Nee Soon GRC Carrie Tan, who asked about the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM) plans to ensure more companies adopt the Tripartite Standards.

According to the Minister, the tripartite partners have developed a total of eight Tripartite Standards since the Tripartite Standards and the HCP Programme were launched in 2017 to encourage more companies to adopt progressive employment practices.

“More than 10,000 organisations have adopted at least one Tripartite Standard, covering over 1,000,000 employees. The tripartite partners have also recognised about 600 HCPartners, employing over 200,000 locals,” she said.

Adopters of Tripartite Standards and HCPartners have also been publicly recognised to enable job seekers to identify them as progressive employers, said Mrs Teo, adding that MOM would strengthen efforts to encourage employers to adopt progressive employment practices.

“The Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) actively reaches out to companies through its promotional campaigns and briefings to members of Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs).

“TAFEP also organises regular clinics on Tripartite Standards to help companies better understand the specifications and confidently implement those practices. Organisations that wish to promote progressive practices at workplaces can also approach TAFEP to collaborate on such efforts,” she added.

In addition, Mrs Teo said the Ministry would continue working with tripartite partners and sector agencies to grow the community of progressive employers.
