Starting Wednesday (5 May), the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) will prohibit individuals who have either recently been admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) wards or visited the said wards, including caregivers and accompanying persons.

SGH said today that the new rule applies to such individuals who have done so from 18 Apr onwards.

However, the hospital said that the rule does not apply to individuals seeking treatment at SGH.

Further, no individuals are allowed to visit suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients in the isolation wards, including the Acute Respiratory Infection ward.

Other updates to SGH’s visitors’ policy include allowing only up to two pre-designated visitors including the patient’s caregiver for each patient’s duration of admission.

Only one visitor, including the patient’s caregiver, is allowed per patient allowed in the ward at any one time for 30 minutes during SGH’s visiting hours, namely from 12 pm to 2 pm and 5 pm to 8.30 pm.

Visitors are not allowed to eat or drink within the wards and should keep their masks on at all times while in the wards, said the hospital.

Visitors should also refrain from using patients’ toilets in the wards and avoid sitting on patients’ beds, said SGH.

SGH’s new restrictions are among those imposed by multiple hospitals of late, including Alexandra Hospital, Changi General Hospital (CGH), JurongHealth Campus, National University Hospital (NUH), KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

The entry limitations were imposed in the wake of a cluster linked to TTSH, the largest active COVID-19 cluster on the island. 40 cases have been linked to the said TTSH cluster as of Tuesday (4 Mar).
