班级人数多师生压力大 本地DJ分享个人经验冀能削减人数

工人党盛港集选区议员林志蔚,昨日(3日)在国会中建议,检讨现有中小学班级人数,有助于减轻教师负担,教师也较能关注进度较落后的学生。

不过,教育部长黄循财却表示,尽管本地师资有些微下降,但过去十年本地师生比例已有改善。

黄循财则回应,“我希望他们(议员)能明白,相较经合组织成员国,我国的教师人数并不多。”

黄循财续指,尽管近年师资人数有轻微下降,但大致维持在3万2000人左右,因此要将我国师资人数与入学人数做比较。

在过去十年中,师生比例确实有所改善,从2010年的19比1,到目前的15比1,且在中学制度内,也从16比1 减至12比1。

基于教师人数较少,黄循财表示,教师通常会以最大化影响,比如在最早入学的年纪或是更有需求的地方作出安排。

关于班级人数 本地人气女DJ有话要说

针对班级人数的争议,本地人气女DJ洁蒂(Jade Rasif)有话要说,她忆述自己的读书经历时,因为在人数多大40人的班级内,经常备受打击,直至转校道国际学校,接受一对一的教育,成绩才有了显著的改善。

洁蒂在本地学校求学期间,因为患有阅读障碍,上课期间非常吃力,直至母亲发现到她的状况,并将她转至圣若瑟夫国际学校(St Joseph’s Institution International School,简称SJI),接受一对一的教育,才有了很大的进步。

在小班制的情况下,洁蒂表示,她从来无需接受任何额外的补习,说道,“因为只要有人不明白,老师就会给予额外的关注。”

她表示,在国际学校内他们拥有长时间的上课时间,且从来无需被迫接受课外辅助课程(CCA),开课时间也较晚,所以也会让学生有更多睡眠。

洁蒂将国际学校的课程安排与传统的初级学院(junior college)相比,她直言,本地的初级学院的课程让他感到过度劳累、压力大且精疲力尽,且还要额外准备课外辅助课程的全国比赛,试图竞争领袖的位置,无疑是更加压力和乏味的。

有鉴于此,她对小班制的安排表示认同,并以自己身边亲眼见证的例子为例,指她所遇见的同龄人,也是在未获得任何补习的情况下,经过了很好的学习,且绝大多数都在法律、医学和金融等行业有着杰出的表现。

“我希望能够将班级人数锐减,减轻学生的课外辅助课程,甚至延迟上课时间,这是身为一个国家能够真诚地完成承诺的事情。”

毕竟,若全班人数有40人,每个学生有一分钟的提问时间,最多也只能拨出10分钟给每个人。

洁蒂的言论引起网民的热烈讨论,洁蒂随后也在留言区内持续分享自己的看法,以她自己为例,在本地学校内历经挫折,但在转校后,到了规模较小的学校却获益良多。

“想象一下,一个普通的学生也可以利用同样的机会取得什么样的成就。”

对于,洁蒂的言论,许多人表示赞成,并认为如今是本地教育该改革的时候了。一名网友甚至点出了国际学校的学费对经济背景较低的孩子是无法负担,其教育费用尤其昂贵。大部分孩子都来自不同的背景,无法享有像国际学校的经营课程,班级规模。

他质问,为何只有国际教育是负担得起的人才可以接受的呢?

此外,也有网友表示,新加坡的生活成本很高,对于学校费用较高规模较小的国际学校,因此是多方面的问题,希望政府能够针对这个问题进行彻底改革。

网友指出,近八成的本地人仍然住在组屋内,生活费让日子捉襟见肘,所以本来就无法负担私立学校,因此才会希望政府能够介入解决问题。

然而,也有一部分的人则表示,要公立学校削减班级规模的成本太高,因为不仅需要加聘教师,增加基础设施和学习资源,这对公立学校而言无疑是负担过重。
